YAKUZA SMILE LIVE CONCERT INFORMATION:

Farewell Show - -

Thursday August 27th

De Heeren Van Aemstel

Doors at 8pm!!!

Amsterdam Rock Group The Yakuza Smile Farewell Live Concert at De Heeren Van Aemstel

With one Yakuza heading home for New Zealand at the end of August, and another for Aussie in September, the Yakuza boys have decided to call it a day and send themselves off with a gloriously self-important farewell gig on 27 August, wiping that Yakuza Smile off your faces.

[Hang on… we'll give you a minute to take that in... it's ok to cry a little... we did (a lot).]

So please get your sweet asses down to De Heeren van Aemstel on Rembrandtplein with everyone you know, to see Yakuza Smile for officially the last time ever in Amsterdam (that we know of at this time).

As some of you may know, Yakuza Smile recently became a 4-peiece, adding the Kiwi human drum machine, Caleb ‘Buff K’ McNabb to the line-up and promoting former drummer, Corey O’Netake to second guitar, hence creating a sonic soundscape like no other. The band has been rocking out harder than ever as a four piece and has introduced a few new songs into the repertoire. So in addition to debuting (and retiring) these songs at De Heeren van Aemstel on 27 August, the Yakuzas have spent the summer in the studio and have put down a number of these tracks onto 'digital tape' (that’s what they use now, right?). Therefore, as a special surprise at this gig (not unlike receiving socks and undies at xmas time once again) the boys will be giving away FREE CDs containing these tracks, as a special memento to all those who have supported them over the past 2 years.

Yakuza Smile will be supported by Amsterdam-based, Kiwi songsmith, Mike Berry, who’s serenades will make your insides swoon like a melted Eskimo Pie. There will also be a number of other special guests, DJ Olly and general frivolity (everyone’s favourite military office) to keep you entertained until the wee hours. More information on this will be provided when it comes to hand.

It’s a Thursday night, but who cares? Bring your boss along, and spike their drink. Friday will be a breeze from thence onwards.

Come say, “Sayonara” to Yakuza Smile!

Doors open 20:00
Live music starts 20:45 and likely to finish 00:30 with DJ Olly till 03:00

Yakuza Smile WinstonYakuza Smile Winston Amsterdam Live

Yakuza Smile, have a massive show lined up at the Winston in Amsterdam on Saturday 21 February 2009. The gig is part of a Dutch and Belgium showcase of unsigned bands called The Next Stage.

For this we need to sell tickets prior to the event - selling enough will ensure us an internet distribution deal for our songs on iTunes and a big crowd to see us play alongside 7 other bands that night. The showcase is also somewhat of a band competition where votes are cast by crowd members via sms on the night. The 4 bands with the most votes go on to play at P60 in Amstelveen and then potentially the Melkweg, Amsterdam's premier live music venue. European touring deals and other cool shit is also up for grabs, so we need your support! Please show up and give us your text vote when the time comes!!

More info on the project can be found on The Next Stage website.

So... those details again:

Doors open at 7.00pm and we are the 4th band of the night starting at 9.00pm. We will play for half an hour.

Tickets cost EUR 8 and you can buy one (or several) from us directly by contacting us on facebook, email, or by arranging a personal appointment with our secretary Esmay Watson. We can either post them to you or something like that.... we haven't quite decided that part yet. But we will, even if it means personally delivering them to your door dressed in gorilla suits.
